Window film can save your floors and furniture from fading.

Living in Denver makes it easy to enjoy the sunshine almost all year round. Most residents know we have over 300 days of sunshine here on the Front Range of the Rockies. Rarely does a day go by without the sun peeking its way from behind the clouds, if there are any clouds. This makes for a beautiful place to live. When it comes to the climate, Denver residents are eager to take advantage ot it. And when it comes to window film, Denver residents are ready, willing and able to take advantage of its benefits as well.

Because as much as we all love the sunshine, this same sunshine can cause major fading problems inside our home. The sun’s harmful UV rays can cause your floors, furniture, drapes, and expensive art work to fade over time. You’ve probably seen some pretty dramatic fading, haven’t you, when you’ve flipped over a couch cushion or lifted up the corner of an area rug that’s sat in the same spot for a long time?

Fading makes things look shabby. In the case of upholstery or carpets, of course they can be replaced, but that’s a considerable expense. And in the case of art, paintings can be ruined beyond any repair. Window film, Denver homeowners are learning, is a much more cost effective solution than replacing expensive home furnishings. (Or office furnishings!)

Here’s why. Once window film is installed, it blocks up to 99 percent of the sun’s UV rays. Yes, 99 percent! So your vibrantly colored leather sofa will remain vibrantly colored for many more years to come than it would if the sun was allowed to have its way with it. Your child’s painting that you had matted and framed (but without UV resistant glass) will still be colorful and bring you joy for many more years to come as well. And if you decide to move the rug three feet to the left, there will not be a darker patch of floor uncovered, showing off how badly faded the rest of your floor has become.

Of course, with window film, Denver citizens are getting various other benefits as well. Most UV protection window films are also quite energy efficient and can save you money on heating and cooling costs. They do this by adding a coating to your windows that keeps heat in in the winter, and heat gain from the sun out in the summer. So you’ll be more comfortable in your home as well.
